Our founder, Kelsey, moved to Uganda in 2015. Although she had gone to work in the non profit sector, she found herself putting her degree to work at a local jewelry business. She worked at Ajuna Uganda for a few years and saw how fair trade was making a difference and changing the story around how people accessed products.
From there, she wondered what it would be like to be a part of writing a new fair trade narrative. What would it look like to put products in the hands of people who, otherwise, would never be able to appreciate them?
After building relationships with artisans around the world, AlterNarrative was born- an online marketplace were artisan goods would be available for the world to access.
